Beccles travelled to Taverham for this 4pm game under floodlights against mid table opposition. Surprisingly Beccles managed to field 12 players for this late game. City were a very well organised and skilled team. They were very difficult to play against as they were just that much quicker than Beccles, hence they were very good at keeping possession and finding a team mate to pass the ball to. Somehow, they always seemed to have at least 2 unmarked players. City opened the score after seven minutes. Beccles equalised two minutes later when a great long ball from Marie Seymour on the right, found Hannah Devine in space and she struck the ball passed the keeper to make it 1-1.
Beccles went ahead after they fought hard to win the ball back in the opposition’s half managed to get the ball to Hanah Devine, Hannah took the ball nearer to the D and then crossed it into the top of the D where Debbie Mann struck it first time into the nearside post so Beccles were ahead 1-2 at half time.
Norwich City had many players surrounding there attacking D making it very difficult for Beccles to take hit outs in their own defence. However, Marie Seymour often managed to find the space, and give Beccles an opportunity to get into the opposition’s half. This became more difficult in the second half of the game, as City pressed at every opportunity. Despite the loss, Beccles can be very proud of the way there dealt with, and battled against this strong opposition with everyone giving it their all.
Team: Lorraine, Hanah R, Mandy, Marie, Lesley, Ali, Emma, Jodie, Rachael, Hannah D, Debbie and Tina
